CELTA, the ''Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults'', is a qualification awarded by the ''University of Cambridge English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)'', a part of Cambridge University. It is a common requirement for teachers of English as a second language.The qualification is awarded upon passing a course which includes supervised teaching practice and written assignments, and is accredited in the United Kingdom by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority. According to Cambridge UniversityCambridge, over 10,000 people complete the CELTA every year. It is available in many different countries throughout the world. The course can be taken part time over several months, or full time in a four-week period.
