ESRI is the largest producer of Geographic Information System software in the world, with large offices in both the United States, United KingdomUK, and smaller offices elsewhere. Many users pronounce the acronym name of the company as a word; however, employees at the company do not. In 2002, all employees of the company began to clearly pronounce the letters and are known to correct others pronouncing ESRI as a word.

Major Products - Their server product targeted at Internet applications is called ArcIMS. Their current desktop-GIS is called ArcGIS version 9.1.
