American Language Programs, Inc. - Live and Learn a New Language
Founded in the late 1980's originally as Boston Home Language and then incorporated in 1990 as ALP, American Language Programs is a private homestay program wherein students stay in the homes of their American teachers. There, they receive individualized teaching according to their level of ability in English. The emphasis of our program is that students have the opportunity to “practice what is preached!” In other words, their entire stay is practice in using English. Their teacher and homestay host is a very qualified teacher usually with many years of training/experience and one or more academic degrees from well-known American colleges or universities. Students become immersed in the daily lives of their family and practice English their entire stay. Lessons are private (one-on-one) and scheduled at the discretion of teacher/student. Meals and trips are with the teacher and his/her family. This method of perfecting a second language has proven to be very successful. Numerous studies support this. Why don’t you join us on an adventure of a lifetime? Learn the world language of English and share in an American experience!

Escuela Runawasi
RUNAWASI is a Quechua word meaning “house of the people”; it refers to our school as a meeting place. The school offers Spanish Quechua and Aymara lessons at all levels. In addition to learning the language the student will achieve a better awareness of reality in Bolivia and Latin America. Advanced students may specialize on Bolivian and Latinamerican literature or a subject of their choice (e.g. literature, economy, environment, history, bolivian indigenous cultures, health, medical or other technical terms, etc.) We try to satisfy the personal needs of learning the language and learning about another culture and other subjects. Our method is direct, participatory and fundamentally communicative, that is to say, we use grammar, dialogue, exercises, reading, videos, pictures, etc., to make communication possible from the first day of classes. By living with a native Spanish and/or Quechua speaking family in the Juan XXIII neighborhood and spending time at a nearby Quechua peasant community, the students will become better acquainted with our culture and languages. The school organizes voluntary service without charge. The school also organizes a number of optional excursions. You might want to take advantage of organized trips to the following locations, or go exploring on your own.
