for drugs, dosage or toxicity limits should be obtained

Phase 1 Reactions:Consists of three reactions that metobolize Xenobiotics and Endobiotics: oxidation, reduction and hydrolysis. In most cases these reactions detoxify chemicals by making them more water-soluble and easily excreted. In some cases bioactivation occurs that instead makes a metabolite that is more toxic then the parent compound was. Often after Phase one reactions the metabolites are send to Phase 2 reactions (AKA conjugation reactions) to further metabolize the compounds.
