A Spell is a type of styrene card which represents spells that can be cast during the course of a Mage Knight game. To use a spell, they must be included in a Spellbooks (Mage Knight)Spellbook. During gameplay, a spell can be cast by following the instructions on the cards. There are 4 types of spells:

Sorcery, representing more instant effects, often altering the way an attack is made or providing some other instantaneous benefit. Some Sorcery spells are of the Sorcery-Counterspell type, which often give bonuses to the figure using the spell while making a ''counterspell'' attempt.

Enchantment, representing an effect targeting a single figure. Often, this effect will give the target an ability of some kind, or certain modifiers to its combat values. Some Enchantments are of limited duration, while others are more permanent unless dispelled.

Illusion, representing a battlefield wide effect. Usually, these spells will affect both armies, though some only affect one army. The duration of an Illusion depends on the actual spell, and is usually limited, though some are permanent unless dispelled.

Glyph, representing a spell which marks an area on the battlefield. As long as the caster stays in contact with the Glyph (which is represented by a token placed on the battlefield to represent where it was cast), the Glyphs effects are in play, and have effects ranging from giving benefits to figures near the caster, protecting the caster itself, or giving abilities to all figures in the players army.When casting a spell, opponents may attempt to block the spell by using the ''counterspell'' proficiency.Category:Mage Knight
