Zapfino is a calligraphycalligraphic typeface designed for Linotype by renowned typeface designer Hermann Zapf. It is based on an alphabet Zapf originally penned in 1944. As a font, it makes extensive use of ligature (typography)ligatures and character variations.Apple ComputerApple includes a version of Zapfino in Mac OS X, partly to demonstrate the advanced typographic features of Apple Advanced TypographyAAT’s morx table format. The version included with Mac OS X contains only one of the 6 weights sold by Linotype. In Mac OS X, the text above should be displayed with ligatures. Unfortunately, few wwwweb browsers display text with ligatures, not even Safari (web browser)Safari. Copying and pasting the text into TextEdit or any other Cocoa (API)Cocoa application, however, will display it as it was meant to be.
